API students participate in excursions designed to help familiarize them with the culture and surrounding areas of their host city and country. The following is a listing of potential excursions for API Athens programs. API may need to modify the excursions offered in a given term due to travel restrictions or health and safety concerns. For semester students in Athens, students will select 2 of 3 day trips and all students will attend the overnight excursion to Mount Olympus!

  • Ancient Delphi

    Explore the most popular archeological site of Delphi, home of the Pythia or the "Oracle of Delphi" consulted both Greek leaders as well as people from all over the globe about the fates of their lives and civilizations. In the eyes of ancient Greeks, Delphi represented the center of the world. Located on Mt. Parnassus, students will have a great vantage point to explore the ruins of the Temple of Apollo in addition to smaller temples, treasuries, and the remnants of this historic site.

  • Greek Island Tour

    See more of Greece with this opportunity to spend a day touring some of the most beautiful, emblematic white sand beaches of Grecian island life.

  • Nafplio

    Come experience one of the Greece's most beautiful and romantic towns. Located in Peloponnese, Nafplio was the first capital of Greece. Walk the city's promenades along the harbor with scenic views to the coastline and mountains, a castle, and visit the delicious restaurants overlooking the water.

  • Thessaloniki, Macedon, Mount Olympus

    Journey to Mount Olympus, home of the Greek Gods! On the way, students will visit the capital of Greek Macedonia and the palace of Alexander the Great. Travel on to Thessaloniki, Greece's second-largest city and often called its "cultural capital". From there , students will discover Thermopylae, the battle site of King Leonidas and his 300 Spartan soldiers. This story has many fictionalized retellings including the popular 2006 film 300.

What You’ll Study

TOTAL CREDITS - Up to 15 US credits per semester

Balance a 21st-century education with the rich antiquity just outside the classroom doors. Students will be enrolled alongside other international students as well as local Greek students for a diverse learning environment. Fulfill major and minor requirements with the university's wide subject area offering taught in English.

API students in Athens will be housed in shared apartments. API students will have double-occupancy bedrooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. Single rooms may be available for an additional fee. All housing options include wifi. Most housing options also include outdoor balconies to best take in the gorgeous Greecian weather!
