API students participate in excursions designed to help familiarize them with the culture and surrounding areas of their host city and country. This API program includes an international excursion to Paris included within the program fee! In addition, students will participate in at least one additional API London excursion. The following is a listing of potential excursions for API London programs. API may need to modify the excursions offered in a given term due to travel restrictions or health and safety concerns.

  • A Historic Royal Palace

Explore one of the many historic royal palaces in and around London! These palaces show the extravagant wealth of the previous and current royal families of England and hold collections of art, furniture and jewels that are truly priceless. The buildings themselves are also marvels of architecture and show how each palace was adapted and redesigned for each monarch.

  • Wales Weekend

Wales has more castles per square mile than anywhere else in the world. Every hill, church or standing stone has a story all of its own. Cardiff, the capital city is the location of many Dr. Who scenes, and the Welsh countryside is home to picturesque abbeys and castles painted by many artists through the centuries.

  • Small Town Britain

Find yourself amongst the cobbled streets, nibbling a warm scone, and enjoying the quintessence of British life. On this excursion, we will venture outside the hustle and bustle of London and into one of the cozier corners of England. Chocolate box houses, thatched roofs, and blazing firesides say 'quaint' with the perfect amount of British charm. Take time to stop and smell the roses and immerse yourself in a fairy tale village on this wonderful day away.

  • Edinburgh

Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, is one of the greenest and most beautiful cities in Europe, attested to by the 2 million visitors it receives each year. It is built on a jumble of hills and valleys and has an extinct volcano 823 feet high in the heart of the city. This volcano is known as Arthur’s Seat and it is possible for the more active to climb to the summit, from which the views of Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside are spectacular. One of the city's most distinctive and most visited landmarks is Edinburgh Castle, perched high up in the city centre on the craggy remains of another extinct volcano. It was believed to have been the site of an Iron Age fort. It is still in use by the British army. From The Castle, The Royal Mile leads down past many medieval buildings to the new Scottish Parliament. Next to Parliament is the Palace of Holyrood House, which is the Queen's Scottish residence and the scene of royal garden parties in the Summer. It was also home to the infamous Mary Queen of Scots. and welcomes visitors to tread in the steps of the royals.

  • Stonehenge & Bath

This API excursion offers students the chance to see one of the wonders of the world, Stonehenge. Everyone has heard of Stonehenge, but mystery still shrouds it from how the stones made it to their final resting place to the exact purpose of the site. After exploring one of the best prehistoric sites in Europe, students will be off to Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here students can travel through time, exploring what Bath may have been like during the Roman Occupation through the Roman Baths or explore the Georgian Architecture and Fashion of Jane Austen’s time.

What You’ll Study

TOTAL CREDITS - 12-16 credits per semester

London College of Fashion is a member college of the University of the Arts London. LCF's rich heritage and responsiveness to changes in design practice have positioned it as a leading global provider of fashion education, research, and consultancy. The College’s work is centered on the development of ideas: its staff and students use fashion alongside historical and cultural practice to challenge social, political and ethical agendas. This, combined with its forward-thinking business and management portfolio and its relationship with the global fashion and lifestyle industries, is the underpinning of its mission to “Fashion the Future”.

This program at LCF was designed specifically with study abroad students in mind. The teaching is more structured and there is more faculty support than on the integrated programs, and the dates more closely match the US semester calendar.

PARIS TRIP

The London College of Fashion programs includes a trip to Paris, France! Students will gain a unique perspective through guided city tours, museum and gallery visits, and other cultural exploration.
